Today we rode out thru the Lava Fields, yet another place we found on accident kind of, well Jc knew about it anyhow
Feels like you are riding on the surface of the moon...
No motorhomes SHOULD be on this road, but there were a couple....
As you can see these rocks are still sharp after who knows how many years...
There is a little hut thing in the middle that is a major pullout, Inside are these cool little windows that point you directly at each major feature in the area
Belknap Crater
Little Belknap Crater
Mt. Washington
Mt. Jefferson
Black Crater
This is the South Sister I think
North Sister
Middle Sister
Horsepasture Mtn
Scott Mtn
This was the legend describing the area and such, couldn't really read it it was to weathered
This was a view from the little hut down on the lava fields
This was another type of legend in the hut, pointing at each peak
Amazing views
We had a great ride the rest of the way but it was a little narrow backroad, didn't have time for pics lol

The hotel we stayed at in Astoria had the ugliest bathroom known to mankind...
This was as we road along the Columbia River
We took route 503 in Washington in order to avoid going thru Portland, it was a beautiful ride.
Once we went back across the Columbia, we came into open farmlands on the way towards Mount Hood
This was our first view of Mount Hood in the distance
Dad being a ham for the camera
This is from the parking lot at the ski resort at the bottom of Mt Hood. Somehow Mt Hood was disapointing, when compared with Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier it seemed like it was tamed or conquered...
We passed this as we road down the highway, both my dad and I flipped a u-turn without even saying anything to each other in order to get back to take a picture of this sign.
The area started to turn into a strangely barren land
Welcome to the Oregon desert...
